On 18 June 2026, ÖJAB hosted the CARE-ABILITY information event “From Experience to Qualification: Inclusive Training Pathways in Care” at ÖJAB’s Vocational Training Institute in Vienna. Delivered in a hybrid format by Sabina Šuta-Islamović, Project Manager, and Kateryna Brailovska, Project Assistant, the event introduced the project, its upcoming 50-hour Micro-Credential programme, and the Best Practices Handbook to a mixed audience of women with a migration background, care and labour-sector professionals, and educators. The objective was to raise awareness of inclusive vocational pathways into the care sector and to gather feedback from prospective users and supporting professionals.

The session covered the demographic and structural context driving demand for inclusive training, the concept and recognition of micro-credentials, the structure of the upcoming 50-hour programme at EQF Level 2, and the transferable recommendations set out in the Best Practices Handbook. An interactive segment invited participants to discuss what would encourage or discourage them from using or enrolling in a micro-credential programme. Participants highlighted the value of formal recognition, free access, and a clearer route into employment, and shared valuable insights on how training can best meet the needs of women with a migration background, including language support.

The event reached 24 participants and an enthusiastic response, with attendees rating their overall experience at 4.6 out of 5. The Best Practices Handbook was also shared with participants and interested professionals, both at the event and as a follow-up.
